A delegation of Gilgit Baltistan Council led by Mr. Muhammad Asھraf Sada Chairman Standing Committee Gilgit Baltistan Council met with Mr. Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives here at the Ministry on Thursday. The business delegation enquired about their role in China Pakistan Corridor and discussed various issues related to GB.
While talking to a delegation Minister said that Gilgit-Baltistan has the capacity to generate hydropower energy, the Government of Pakistan will make a comprehensive and systematic plan to utilize this production capacity for the welfare and development of the people of Pakistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Minister said that the most important road- Gilgit Skardu Road- from tourasim and strategic point of view has been allocated more additional funds recently for early completion. He said that Gilgit-Baltistan is rich in dried and fresh fruits, minerals and mining, now its government's top priority to set up a fruit processing unit in GB and a factory for marble and stone polishing. The Federal Minister further said that no major project can be implemented unless modern technical institutes are established in the area as the government's objective is to make the local youth skilled and empowered.
Minister said that beyound politics, every possible step will be taken for the welfare of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. He said that we are trying our best to run at least one weekly flight from Kashgar to Gilgit and from Kashgar to Skardu which is very important for promoting tourism. Asad Umar said that more opportunities for scholarships for GB students will be ensured.
