Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar has said that the Government is committed to development of science & technology sector while creating new opportunities to drive sustained economic growth.
The Minister said this during a meeting with Federal Minister for Science & Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain who called on him in Islamabad on Monday. Secretary Planning Zafar Hasan and senior officials of the ministry were also present in the meeting while member S&T, Dr. Hussein Abidi briefed the forum on various project activities of PSDP 2019-20..
The Minister stated that there is a need to stop brain drain by providing opportunities to talented youth in Pakistan who could contribute effectively in the development of the country. He opined that leading tech companies should focus on promotion of research and development for innovation and keeping abreast with latest trends in the field of science & technology.
Minister for Science & Technology apprised that a proposal is being mulled to provide quality science & technology education at school level to prepare the youth for future ventures.
During the meeting, PSDP projects related to science & technology under Knowledge Economy Task Force were also deliberated upon in detail. Minister for Planning assured of all possible cooperation regarding the approval and release of funds for the proposed projects.
