Committee on Net Hydel Profits deliberate over Technical Sub-Committee Report.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar, in his capacity as Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, presided over a meeting of the Committee constituted by CCI to deliberate upon the issue of Net Hydel Profits (NHP) here in Islamabad on Friday.

Advisor to CM KP, Chief Secretary KP, Secretaries of Planning, Water Resources, Power Division and IPC, Member Energy and senior officials from relevant ministries were also present in the meeting.

The meeting discussed in detail the report of Technical Sub-Committee (TSC) which had been constituted under the Chairmanship of Secretary Power Division to ponder over the issue of determination of rates/net profits. The meeting also deliberated upon the point of view of all key stakeholders in the matter including KP, Punjab, WAPDA and CPPA-G.

The Minister expressed optimism to resolve all outstanding issues regarding determination of NHP. The Committee agreed that payment of NHP to provinces is a constitutional obligation. The Committee also agreed to continue to deliberate on the issue of determination of rates/net profits for early resolution of the issue and submit its report to the forthcoming meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI).
