Govt officials to work hard for public welfare: Secretary M/oPD&R
Islamabad, August 28, 2018: Federal Secretary for Ministry of Planning Development & Reform, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui has said that government officials have to work with integrity and full commitment on the agenda of good governance and best policies for public welfare.
He expressed these views while speaking to the participants of 21st Provincial Management Services Group during their study tour to the Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform. Earlier, various technical sections of the Ministry briefed the participants regarding Ministry's functioning, role in development budget and implementation of different development projects.
Mr. Siddiqui said that officers should ensure discipline, a key teaching of the Qauid-e-Azam to civil servants as through discipline we can achieve nation building and successes in institutions. He further advised the officials to make themselves accessible to public as they have tied their hopes with them to resolve their grievances.
The Secretary also asked the government officials to adopt a self-accountability approach in order to meet the expectations of the public. "Officials should work with integrity and utmost professionalism to ensure support to the government in good governance and bringing change," he said.
Mr. Siddiqui further said that rules allow officials to support public welfare agenda of the government in a way that exhibits a commitment and discipline. He appreciated training programs for civil servants at the provincial level, highlighting that such activities ensure knowledge and understanding and should continue to take place on a regular basis.
