CHAMPIONS OF REFORMS NETWORK

INTRODUCTION:

For the first time in Pakistan's history and in line with the Prime Minister's vision for good GoP is opening its doors to Pakistani citizens to directly participate in decision-making process in the country as a major step towards Inclusive, Responsive & Transparent Governance.

Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives has established 'Champions of Reforms' (COR) network to bring together professional Pakistani citizens from all walks of life, demographics, genders and geographic regions to contribute towards concrete, structural and long-lasting governance reforms in the country.


OBJECTIVES:

  • o To make policy making process inclusive, citizen centric, demand driven and transparent.
  • o To tap into consolidated knowledge and expertise in the private sector by obtaining critical feedback and advice from professionals.
  • o To make reform initiatives sustainable and viable through improved ownership and involvement of citizens.
  • o To monitor implementation and ensure translation of policies into action.


HOW WILL COR CONTRIBUTE?

The Ministry will rely on COR for the following:


1.Participate in the policy making process at the Ministry by providing suggestions, feedback and advise on long term economic and development policies of Pakistan.

2. Help the Ministry envisage, plan, and execute strategic large-scale development initiatives. Provide critical appraisal and expert feedback on various proposals received in this regard.

3. Contribute towards National Development through voluntary action in partnership with the Ministry.

This initiative will provide COR with the unprecedented access to policy making mechanisms and processes at the Ministry and a unique chance to participate in the development of Pakistan.



WHO SHOULD JOIN COR?

COR will comprise of distinguished multi-level professionals bring about positive change in the society. Members will typically have, but will not be limited to:

o Track record of excellence in their respective fields

o Memberships of respected professional bodies

o Leadership experience or potential at various levels

o Recognized qualifications in relevant disciplines from leading educational institutions

AREAS OF EXPERTISE?

Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives has the mandate to "manage Pakistan's socio-economic development in a strategic and sustainable manner". This necessitates building interdisciplinary teams and developing capacity in diverse professional fields. The membership to COR is thus not limited to certain fields and you are welcome to join irrespective of your area of expertise. :

WHERE WILL COR BE HOUSED?

COR will be a virtual network with membership open to Pakistani citizens residing across the globe. It will be formally housed, managed and coordinated by the Governance Innovation Lab, Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives.
